The Peacefighters's speech at the United Nations HQ - Geneva Switzerland 2014

Kickboxing pioneers, Swiss born Carl Emery and Belfast's Billy Murray were centre stage at the Palais des Nations (United Nations) in Geneva yesterday 7th March 2014. The two former world champions were invited by, Dr. Ariel R. King, MPH, MBA, PhD, DTM&H - who staged the 25th UN Human Rights Council conference. Murray and Emery were asked to lecture about their PeaceFighters initiative as part of the Creative Prevention, Advocacy and Healing
Murray and Emery's Fighting For Peace programme was officially launched at the UNICEF HQ in Switzerland in 2008 in front of an impressive array of diplomats, senior politicians and international press. The Director of UNICEF, Irish Ambassador, British Ambassador, current and past British consul generals – and topping that the initiative received a personal message from the then President of Ireland Mary McAleese. Swiss born, Carl Emery and Belfast born Billy Murray, set up the Peace Fighters’ initiative. Carl and Billy are lifelong friends through their chosen sport Kickboxing and both have achieved the highest award, professional world championships. On what spare time they have they travel the globe as ambassadors for their 'The Peace Fighters' initiative. The aim of The Peace Fighters is to fight for peace by promoting the ethos of Martial Arts to disadvantaged and underprivileged children. It brings together leading groups involved in martial arts and combat sports across Europe and organises inter-community meetings and international events including competitions, training, courses, trips and demonstrations.
